- Is there an Emergency Shelter? An Emergency Shelter opened at Rockingham County Middle School, 182 High School Rd., in Reidsville, NC, 27320, on Thursday, Sept. 13th, at 4 p.m.
- Will there be some type of Emergency Shelter regulations? Shelter Rules include: NO ALCOHOL WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE SHELTER OR ON SHELTER GROUNDS! NO ILLEGAL ACTIVITY OF ANY TYPE WILL BE TOLERATED. NO WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED IN THE SHELTER OR ON SHELTER GROUNDS! ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WILL PROVIDE SECURITY AT THE SHELTER FOR THE DURATION OF SHELTER ACTIVATION. WHEN THE SHELTER IS DEACTIVED, ALL SHELTEREES WILL LEAVE THE PREMISES OR THEY WILL BE TRESPASSING. THE SHELTER IS A LIFE-SAVING AND LIFE-PRESERVING EFFORT PROVIDED TO CITIZENS AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.
- What should Rockingham County citizens bring with them if they need to come to the Emergency Shelter? Citizens who will need to stay at the Emergency Shelter should bring the following: Toiletry items (tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, deodorant, etc.). Towel and bath cloth. Pillow, Blanket and Sleeping Bag. ID. Change of Clothes. Your PERSONAL prescription medications (It is a felony to possess prescription medications not prescribed to you).
- What happens to my pet if I have to go to the Emergency Shelter? Rockingham County Animal Shelter will accept DOMESTIC PETS at 250 Cherokee Camp Rd., Reidsville, NC, 27320. This location is 1.4 miles west of the human shelter.
- Are there any animals they will not accept at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter? Farm animals, reptiles, birds and other Non-Domestic Pets will not be accepted at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter.
